Well, don't try and install Fedora Core 2 with a doubtful CDROM is tonights little thought for the day. Or else you need more patience than me.
I'm on my third or fourth attempt to install it now. Overall, I must have made around 20 attempts with various flavours of Linux. I got close with Gentoo, but it's 'configure everything before you start' approach got me stumped.
I'm looking at a blank blue screen at the moment with the inspiring words 'Welcome to Fedora Core' at the top. Its been there a long time now.
I have to decide whether I need to wait a bit longer or select another option from menu that says 'Install Source'. The options were Local CDROM, HD, NFS Share or HTTP/FTP. I plumped for Local CDROM since I've got four the things I've burnt off here, plus a rescue disk so I figure what it wants must be on there somewhere. It span the disk up OK, but hasn't come up with anything else yet. I'm gonna go play some UT2k3....
woah....
I suppose it looks a little fake to interupt yourself when you're typing, but it really did just do something while I'm writing this. It says 'the fedora core cd was not found in any of your cd drives'. now i now its there cos it just booted from it. so what does it want? shall I insert the next in the series of disks and hope? or choose a different option? hmmm.....
