This is really not it.

The world as I see it. Links to the best on the web. If I had a blog this would be it. But I don't.

Some more PIM/Syncing browsing results

GMailer is a PHP library for accessing Gmail. Could be useful to integrate gmail contacts with PIM or others.

GMailer and gmail-lite

Plaxo is a nice sync/backup tool that connects to all sorts of PIM tools and has an online companent. It claims some kind of mobile support too which is nice. A very complete solution, but 2 major problems with this: 1 - All your data will be stored unenvrypted on 3rd party servers, so you have to trust yet another startup to secure your data (and continue existing!). 2 - It adds it's own branding into all sorts of intrusive places, like signitures on your emails.

The website is pretty poor on details of the UI and capabilities too. Wouldn't hurt them to post some screen shots and technical details.

All in all, it's a good effort but it won't suit me.

    Hi akaDruid,

I work for Plaxo and wanted to offer some additional information for you to consider.

    - We take security and privacy concerns extremely seriously.
    - The signatures containing Plaxo branding that you refer to are wholly optional, and are not activated by default.

    Also, regarding your comment here:

    > The website is pretty poor on details of the UI and capabilities

... we do offer some screen shots, and are in the process of adding guides and additional technical details to our site. If you have any specific questions or suggestions, please drop us a note at any time ("help" at the domain plaxo.com); we take feedback quite seriously.

Lastly, while I understand your concern about companies that are hypothetically here one day, gone the next, I'd urge you to take a moment to learn more about our company and the impressive roster of individuals and organizations who have backed us with their trust and financing.

I hope you'll try Plaxo out, and I wish you a great weekend.

    Thanks for your reply Adam!

You've addressed some of my major concerns, so I'm going to give it a try. I've downloaded the plaxo client, so watch this space.

    Thanks.
